(physiology) The time period in a cycle during which the cycle is low, especially the lower part of a sine wave fitted to a measurement of a circadian pattern or other biological rhythm.
The bathyphase of the metabolic process ran from late evening until shortly after the subject awoke, with the lowest point recorded in at three o'clock in the morning.
