calcium-48 (uncountable)
(physics) A naturally-occurring isotope of calcium, 20Ca, having twenty protons and twenty-eight neutrons. It decays very slowly, with a half-life of 4.3x10 years. Because it is unusually neutron-rich, it is popular for the manufacture of superheavy elements.
Californium can also be used in nuclear synthesis of higher mass elements; ununoctium (element 118) was synthesized by bombarding californium-249 atoms with calcium-48 ions. Source: Internet
Hence einsteinium-254 was used as a target in the attempted synthesis of ununennium (element 119) in 1985 by bombarding it with calcium-48 ions at the superHILAC linear accelerator at Berkeley, California. Source: Internet
