cell plate (plural cell plates)
The beginning of the formation of a cell wall that also serves as a means of organization of chromosomes during mitosis in many plant cells.
Cell contents are forced into the progeny cell, and as the final phase of mitosis ends a cell plate, the point at which a new cell wall will grow inwards from, forms. Source: Internet
