confessio amantis
Noun
Meaning
confessio amantis (plural confessiones amantis or confessiones amantium)
A lover’s confession.
Examples
Chaucer's colleague and friend John Gower wrote his Confessio Amantis on a direct commission from Richard, although he later grew disenchanted with the king.
This reference was later edited out of Gower's Confessio Amantis and it was suggested by one editor citation that this was done because of ill feeling between them, but it is likely due simply to stylistic concerns.
