Noun
dagesh (plural dageshes)
A symbol used in Hebrew script to denote a geminated consonant, or a consonant pronounced as a plosive as opposed to as a fricative.
In modern Hebrew, however, the dagesh only changes the pronunciation of ב beth, כ kaf, and פ pe, and does not affect the name of the letter. Source: Internet
The plosive and double pronunciations were indicated by the dagesh. Source: Internet
When vowel diacritics are used, the hard sounds are indicated by a central dot called dagesh ( דגש ), while the soft sounds lack a dagesh. Source: Internet
