A province in the northeastern Netherlands with Assen as capital and Emmen as largest city.
My intention is to make in Drenthe so much progress in painting that when I come back I may be qualified for the 'Society of Draughtsmen' [a group of London illustrators]. This stands again in connection with the second plan of going to England. Vincent van Gogh
