Noun
Holliday junction (plural Holliday junctions)
(genetics) A junction between four strands of DNA. They are a key intermediate in many types of genetic recombination, as well as in double-strand break repair.
The integration itself is a sequential exchange (see genetic recombination ) via a Holliday junction and requires both the phage protein Int and the bacterial protein IHF (integration host factor). Source: Internet
The Holliday junction is a tetrahedral junction structure that can be moved along the pair of chromosomes, swapping one strand for another. Source: Internet
