Nottingham alabaster (countable and uncountable, plural Nottingham alabasters)
English alabaster sculpture, mostly small religious carvings, which flourished from the 14th to early 16th century and was mainly produced around Nottingham.
By the 15th century there was an industry exporting Nottingham alabaster altar reliefs in groups of panels over much of Europe for economical parishes who could not afford stone retables. Source: Internet
