Proper noun
PPPoE
Point-to-Point Protocol over Ethernet, a network protocol for encapsulating PPP frames inside Ethernet frames.
RFC 2364 describes Point-to-Point Protocol over ATM (PPPoA) as a method for transmitting PPP over ATM Adaptation Layer 5 (AAL5), which is also a common alternative to PPPoE used with DSL. Source: Internet
Later implementations often use Point-to-Point Protocol (PPP) to authenticate with a user ID and password, and to provide network details ( Point-to-Point Protocol over Ethernet (PPPoE) or Point-to-Point Protocol over ATM (PPPoA)). Source: Internet
