A market town in County Durham, England, known as Stockton for short. Formerly a Metropolitan Borough, and merged into the County Borough of Teesside between 1968 and 1974.
A borough created in 1974 as part of Cleveland County, becoming a unitary authority in 1996 within Tees Valley region, and split between the ceremonial counties of County Durham and North Yorkshire.
